New Illinois Law bans speculative ticketing May 30, 2026
On May 30, 2026, the Illinois Senate unanimously passed House Bill 4984 (often discussed in tandem with Senate Bill 3623), effectively banning "speculative ticketing". The legislation protects live event and concert fans by making it illegal for third-party ticket brokers to sell, list, or advertise tickets they do not actually possess. Learn more
IPO Award Open AI Foundation Grant-first professional orchestra to receive this grant. December 4, 2025
The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO) was awarded a $40,000 grant from the OpenAI Foundation's People-First AI Fund. As the only professional orchestra selected for this award, IPO is using the funding to train staff, develop internal AI policies, and explore how artificial intelligence can expand access to classical music without replacing human artistry.
